As we all know, after obtaining Hong Kong identity, you need to meet the relevant requirements of the Immigration Department of "ordinarily resided in Hong Kong for 7 consecutive years or more", in order to be eligible to apply to become a Hong Kong permanent resident and be issued a SAR passport.
Recently, an article on a master's course from Lingnan University in Hong Kong has sparked heated discussions. The article states:
"It is recommended that the SAR government update its immigration policy and consider shortening the residency requirement for Hong Kong permanent residents from seven years to four years, so as to attract talents from the mainland, so as to solve the talent crisis in Hong Kong."
Although, this article only represents personal suggestions and opinions, and the SAR government has never mentioned it.
However, Hong Kong is plagued by problems such as the declining fertility rate and the increasingly aging society. It is also an inevitable trend to increase efforts to attract talents from the mainland.
At present, the Hong Kong government is constantly adjusting the existing talent introduction plan and introducing favorable measures one after another to welcome talents from all over the world, especially from the Mainland, to come to Hong Kong for work, business, study and settlement.

Mainland students may study in Hong Kong or move to Hong Kong
At present, the SAR government has stated that it is exploring "expanding arrangements for non-local graduates to stay in Hong Kong or return to Hong Kong for employment". Many Hong Kong campuses in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area are also included.
