The medical reimbursement rate ranges between 70% and 90%, with nearly full exemption of medical fees for children aged 0-6, and 90% reimbursement for elderly people aged 75 and above, which greatly reduces their financial burden.

For children between the ages of 3 and 5, the Japanese government waives childcare costs, and for families with three or more children, childcare costs for the third child between the ages of 0 and 2 are fully waived.

Children between the ages of 0 and 3 receive 15,000 yen per person per month, while children between the ages of 3 and high school graduation receive 10,000 yen per person per month; for families with multiple children, the government has further increased its support, with an additional 30,000 yen per person per month to be given to the third and subsequent children.
Starting from FY2025, the allowance rate for both men and women taking maternity and parental leave will be increased from 80% to 100% of take-home pay in order to encourage both parents to take maternity and parental leave.

In terms of the pension system, Japan has two main schemes: the National Pension and the Employees' Pension. As long as residents have made the required contributions, they can begin to receive an old-age basic pension when they reach the legal retirement age of 65.
