On the morning of July 1, the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland and the inauguration ceremony of the sixth government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region were held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.
Li Jiachao, the sixth chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, was sworn in by President Xi Jinping.
After Li Jiachao took the oath, the main officials of the sixth government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region were sworn in under the leadership of Li Jiachao.
After taking the oath, the new Chief Executive, Li Jiachao, delivered a speech.
Li Jiachao said that he will take office as the chief executive with humility, and thank the central government and the public for their trust in building a caring, inclusive, vibrant Hong Kong full of development opportunities. He pointed out that shouldering the historical mission, he will fully and accurately implement "one country, two systems", "Hong Kong people administering Hong Kong", a high degree of autonomy, and safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests.
Afterwards, President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech, extending sincere greetings to the citizens of Hong Kong, warm congratulations to Li Jiachao and key officials, and thanks to compatriots who support the cause of "One Country, Two Systems".
