This Saturday, MTR half-price benefits strike again!
When passengers use Octopus to take MTR, Light Rail and MTR buses in the Northwest New Territories, or use QR codes to take MTR and heavy rail network rides, they can enjoy half-price fare benefits!
Octopus user
On August 19 (this Saturday), passengers will enjoy a 50% fare discount for each paid journey when using the Octopus to take the MTR (including journeys at Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations). In addition, the Light Rail and MTR buses running on the Northwest New Territories route also provide the same discount.
▲Half price discount rules
If you use your Octopus to take a connecting journey to and from a non-designated station, and the connecting journey meets the Octopus eligibility requirements, in addition to enjoying a 25% discount on the regular fare of the connecting journey, you can also enjoy a 50% discount on the fare at the same time.
The deductible discount amount will be calculated based on the fare after the 25% discount for the connecting journey.
▲The following conditions do not enjoy the half-price discount
●First-class surcharges for East Rail Line, Airport Express and MTR feeder buses.
●After the overpaid fare at the time of entering the station is refunded by the Light Rail exit fare meter, the actual fare paid will be zero.
●Use the monthly pass to go to and from designated stations for free or take any designated free transportation.
●Using the Octopus to take connecting journeys to and from non-designated stations, after deducting other fare discounts, no fare is required for the journey.
QR code users
For passengers who use the QR code payment method to take the MTR and heavy rail (including the rides at Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations), every paid ride will automatically enjoy a half-price discount on this Saturday (August 19).
It should be noted that if you transfer through Tsim Sha Tsui/East Tsim Sha Tsui Station, it will be regarded as two separate journeys, and the 50% fare discount will be calculated according to the fare of the separate journeys.
In addition, the 50% fare discount offered by the QR code cannot be used in conjunction with other fare discounts.
Please note that this discount is not applicable to first-class surcharges on the East Rail Line and the Airport Express Line. If the deduction amount ends in less than ten cents, it will be calculated as one cent.
