From November 16, 2021, all residence permits, residence cards and permanent residence cards issued to citizens of third countries will be completely updated electronically.

The applicant only needs to confirm the user's identity online. Lawyers who are authorized to submit residence permits will submit their applications through the relevant electronic platform of the Greek Bar Association.
The electronic application will be submitted directly to the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum of Greece and relevant agencies. It can further increase the approval rate and shorten the waiting time.
After completing the application processing, the Ministry and relevant agencies will send an electronic application to the applicant for identity verification, and collect personal biometric data, namely fingerprints, at a designated time.
According to official estimates, this new service will benefit at least 700,000 Greek visa holders, of which approximately 250,000 have residence permits that expire on December 31, 2021.
