According to Sun Yuhan, Secretary for Labor and Welfare of Hong Kong,
As of mid-March, the SAR government has received more than 17,000 applications and successfully approved more than 10,000 applications.
Sun Yuhan also said that the entity "Hong Kong Talent Service Window" to be established will be used to examine which industries the applicants of the Gaocaitong plan are engaged in, their main contributions in Hong Kong, or what aspects they need.
With the increase in the number of applicants, the immigration department has become more and more perfect in the various application rules of the "Gaitong Program", and the relevant requirements have also been adjusted
Add no criminal record
Because of the fact that He Jiankui (who was imprisoned for three years) was approved for Hong Kong status through the Gaocaitong program, the Hong Kong government requires the applicant to declare whether he has a criminal conviction record.
Judging from the current situation, there is still no need to upload certificates such as no criminal record when submitting the Gaocaitong application. You only need to check whether there is a crime option on the electronic application form.
If the false statement is found, the identity will be revoked and a crime will be committed.
Category A applicants need to provide tax details
If the salary in the 12 months before submitting the application reaches HKD 2.5 million
A tax payment certificate issued by the local tax department is required;
Or apply for the issuance of tax records through the "Individual Income Tax" APP.
B, C category applicants increase degree certification
In the past, to apply for Talents B or C, you only need to submit a bachelor’s degree certificate from a “Global Top 100 Universities”.
Now the Immigration Department requires a supplementary "Educational Verification Report"
Such as China Study Abroad Service Center, Xuexin.com, Talent Exchange Service Center, certification issued by degree-granting institutions, WES, etc.
The Continuing Education Schools of some of the world's top 100 universities are clearly not eligible for application by the Immigration Department.
For example, New York University is one of the top 100 universities in the world (QS39), but New York University SPS College is only a continuing education college and does not meet the qualifications for Gaotong.
Adjustments to the application process
In terms of the application process, occupations and sectors have been added to category A declarations, and major subjects have been added to category B declarations.
Since there is no quota for category AB, it seems that it is only used for immigration statistics and will not affect the approval for the time being.
The Gaocaitong plan is not static. As the number of cases increases, the material review becomes more detailed.
The Hong Kong government will also review the application process of the program from time to time, as well as the personal information that applicants are required to fill in. If any adjustments are found, amendments will be considered.
If you want to be approved for Hong Kong status through Gaocaitong, please seize the opportunity, apply early and get approved early!
