Complementary Expertise Assessment Framework COMPASS
In early February this year, the Singapore Ministry of Manpower announced:
From September 1, 2023, Singapore will launch a new point assessment system - COMPASS, a complementary professional assessment framework, for the application of EP employment pass.
For those who need to renew their EP Employment Pass, the assessment framework will come into effect from September 2024.
The COMPASS evaluation framework is divided into two parts: basic standards and reward standards.
The details of the bonus points announced this time are specific explanations for the basic standard C2-education, the reward standard C5-skill bonus points, and the C6-economic priority strategy bonus points.

Basic Standard C2-Education
In terms of academic qualifications, applicants who have a degree from a top institution recognized in Singapore can receive an additional 20 points.
Top universities, subdivided into A and B categories
All departments in category A can add points, and in category B, only designated departments of designated universities can add points.

Reward Standard C5-Skill Points
If the applicant's work is one of the occupations in the list below, a maximum of 20 extra points can be awarded.
This shortage occupation list is jointly formulated by the Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. It will be updated every 3 years, and the government will also adjust it according to market conditions.

Reward standard C6-economic priority strategy bonus points
If the applicant's company participates in any of the 14 "economic priority strategies", or establishes a corporate training committee with the National Trades Union Congress, the applicant can get an additional 10 points.
Economic priority strategic projects include:
The Research Incentive Scheme for Companies of the Economic Development Bureau and the Scale-up SG of the Enterprise Development Bureau.
The "Economy Priority Strategy" bonus points are valid for three consecutive years and apply to every employee of the company that receives the bonus points.
Employers eligible for the Economic Priorities Strategy bonus points will be notified by the Ministry of Manpower by the end of July this year.
