Recently, the Malaysian government has updated the “Second Home” program (MM2H) by adding the Special Financial Zone (SFS) category and adjusting the overall application threshold.

Latest Application Requirements
According to the new policy, the Malaysia Second Home Program is subdivided into four groups, namely Platinum, Gold, Silver and Iskandar Special Zone (Forest City), and the eligibility criteria for each group are as follows:
Silver Group
◆ Age requirement: 25 years old and above;
◆ Deposit requirement: US$150,000
◆ Participation Fee: RM1,000;
◆ Property Requirement: Purchase of property valued at RM600,000 or above;
◆ Visa validity: 5 years, renewable upon expiry.
Gold Group
◆ Age requirement: 25 years old and above;
◆ Deposit requirement: US$500,000 dollars;
◆ Participation fee: RM3,000;
◆ Property Requirement: Purchase of property valued at RM1,000,000 or above;
◆ Visa validity: 15 years, renewable upon expiry.
Platinum Group
◆ Age requirement: 25 years old and above;
◆ Deposit requirement: US$1 million;
◆ Participation Fee: RM200,000;
◆ Property Requirement: Purchase of property valued at RM2 million or above;
◆ Visa validity: 20 years, renewable upon expiry;
◆ Special Privileges: After approval, can engage in business, investment, work and other activities in Malaysia.
Iskandar Special Zone (Forest City) Second Home
◆ Age requirement: 21 years old and above;
◆ Fixed Deposit Requirement: $65,000 for those below 50 years old and $35,000 for those above 50 years old;
◆ Participation Fee: RM1,000;
◆ Property Requirement: Purchase of property valued at RM500,000 or above and must be purchased from Forest City;
◆ Visa validity: 10 years, renewable upon expiry.
Applicants in each of the above groups can bring their spouse, children and both parents to live in Malaysia upon approval.
Meanwhile, 50% of the fixed deposit funds can be withdrawn after one year for home purchase, medical expenses, travel and other expenses.
