Which talents are preferred?
The first phase of the Macao Talent Admission Scheme (MJAS) has successfully closed in the first quarter of 2024, with a cumulative total of 1,047 valid applications received during the period, and the vetting and approval process is now progressing steadily.
The latest approval report from the Macau Talent Development Committee shows that as of July 30, 449 people have been included in the list of recommended talents to be admitted, accounting for 42.8% of the total number of applications. Among them, 22 are high-end talents, 101 outstanding talents, as well as 326 senior professionals.
The details of the approved people are as follows:
Overview of age distribution:
★ 21-30: 11 (2.4%)
★ 30-40 years old: 234 people (52.1%)
★ 41-50 years old: 139 people (31.0%)
★ Age 51-60: 51 (11.4%)
★ Age 61 or above: 14 (3.1%)
Overview of education distribution:
★ Bachelor's degree: 58 people (13.6%)
★ Master's Degree: 144 (33.7%)
★ Doctoral degree: 225 (52.7%)
★ Graduated from the world's top 100 or China's top 20 institutions: 280 (65.6%)
As you can see, Macau focuses on recruiting highly educated people between the ages of 30 and 40.

Second phase of the Talent Admission Scheme
Application is now open
Currently, the Macao SAR Government is actively promoting the new phase of the Talent Admission Scheme. The new program is still divided into three categories, namely High-end, Outstanding and Senior Professionals, and contains a total of nine special programs.
★ High-end Talent Scheme: for internationally recognized outstanding achievers and significant contributors in specific fields;
★ Outstanding Talent Program: focuses on the admission of individuals who promote the development of Macau's key industries and who have demonstrated excellence in their professions or industries;
★ Senior Professionals Program: focuses on attracting people with professional experience and technical skills in scarce resources.
In order to ensure the quality and accuracy of the talent admission, the SAR Government has constructed a comprehensive scoring system, with a total score of 300 points, for a comprehensive assessment of three major dimensions: age, language ability, qualifications and achievements.
Among them, age and language ability account for 20 points each, while qualifications and achievements, as the core consideration, occupy a high weighting of 260 points.
